The Derry, New Hampshire School District is operated under SAU #10. Derry's School District offers five elementary schools and two middle schools with the high school now operated by a non-profit corporation at the Pinkerton Academy. Pinkerton is the country's largest independent academy and one of the oldest, having been established in 1814. The academy is run by a headmaster who, in turn, answers to an elected board of twelve trustees. In addition to educating Derry students in grades nine through twelve, Pinkerton Academy also teaches high-school students from nearby Hampstead and Chester, NH. Ernest P.
