Hudson School System District Highlights

The Hudson School District is dedicated to educational excellence and to provide a respected educational program focused on student achievement, preparedness for post secondary opportunities, and for civic and social responsibility.

The District's mission is to provide academic rigor and high expectations for all students, a safe and secure learning environment, and sound fiscal management and integrity.

To this end, the Hudson School Board has established the following goals:

-- Academic Rigor and High Expectations - each child will be well prepared to succeed at their next level of education, including post secondary endeavors; the District will establish a plan that addresses weaknesses in the continuity of the elementary academic program; the District will recruit and retain highly qualified staff who possess high expectations for students and themselves; the District will engage parents and community members in the educational programs and aspirations of our students.

-- A Safe and Secure Learning Environment - no child will be afraid to come to school; all children and staff will attend school in facilities that are safe, up-to-date, and educationally appropriate; all children and staff will attend school in an environment that fosters continuous learning; administration and staff will engage the community in fostering and encouraging a safe and secure learning environment for our students.

-- Sound Fiscal Management and Integrity - The District will develop and implement an annual ten-year financial plan; the financial plan will be linked to clearly stated goals and objectives for academic programs and facilities; each budget will be developed as an annual expression of the ten-year financial plan and be administered efficiently and effectively; the District will build integrity through communication with the community and through the proper management of budgeted resources.

While the District has focuses upon achievement in Literacy and Mathematics, we have not lost sight of Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, or Practical Arts. We believe in Hudson that it is essential for our students to develop strong basic academic skills and habits, and also to experience learning opportunities in wide areas of interest.
